Fruit Salad, Potato Chips, Crepe Mix Added To Recall List For Salmonella-Tainted Milk Powder

When a common food ingredient like flour or black pepper might be contaminated with a pathogen that can make people sick, it gives us extra insight into how complex and intertwined the modern food production system is. For example, thanks to the Great Powdered Milk Recall of 2016, we’re learning how many different kinds of products use the same product from the same potentially salmonella-contaminated source.

Here are some new products to add to the list, in addition to the pancake mixes and mac and cheese that we already knew about:

New Hope Mills Crepe Mix

Product: 20-ounce brown paper bag; look for “best by” dates of 07/19/17 and 09/15/17.

Old Dutch, Roundy’s, Lund’s, Byerly’s, and Urge Potato and Tortilla Chips

Products: Various sizes, flavors and brands of snack chips that contain the potentially contaminated milk powder. Old Dutch manufactures for other brands, meaning that the list of recalled items is long and complex.

Ron’s Home Style Foods Fruit Cremes

Products: Pistachio, pineapple, and tropical fruit salads sold under the brand names Ron’s Home Style Foods, Golden Harvest, Texas Kitchen Salads, and Brookshire’s.
