Unhappy With A Gift? One Burger King Will Let You Trade It In For A Whopper

Sure, getting holiday presents can be fun and exciting… until you open that wrapping paper only to discover an ugly Christmas sweater three sizes too big for you, or the same book you got (and still haven’t read) last year. So Burger King has a suggestion: why not trade them in for a burger you may not want that much more, but won’t have to store anywhere?

Yes, that’s right: Burger King wants to give your unwanted crap a purpose in life — as currency for obtaining fast food.

Customers who bring unwrapped presents they don’t plan to keep to their local burger-slingers between 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 26 can get a free Whopper sandwich in exchange.

Unwanted gifts received by restaurant locations will be donated to charity because, as Burger King points out, just because it’s totally wrong for you doesn’t mean nobody wants or needs it.

There’s a catch, though: the only location in the U.S. participating in the exchange is in Miami Beach, FL. Otherwise you’ll have to be near “select locations” in London or Brazil to get your free sandwich. Also, employees get to determine whether the item you’re bringing in is acceptable “in their sole discretion,” so try to keep it not-awful.

Anyone not in or near Miami Beach who finds themselves particularly in need of some kind of mystery surprise from Burger King can also attempt to be one of the first 100 people to post photos of stuff to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #whopperexchange.

Of course, you could always try to return the unwanted gift to the store and just use the money to buy whatever food you want.
