The rumor mill yesterday has been borne out today, as the Department of Justice has officially filed a lawsuit to block the mega-merger of health insurers Anthem and Cigna.
As Bloomberg reports, the antitrust complaint was filed in court this morning, although the full text is not yet available. Attorneys general for nine states — including California and New York — and the District of Columbia have also signed on to the lawsuit.
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch is expected to deliver a press statement on the matter at 11:00 a.m.; we’ll update the story as more information becomes available.
No suit has yet been filed against the similar Aetna/Humana merger, Bloomberg reports.
